WWE must find a way to do right by Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins won't be the fifth member of the Original Bloodline's roster for War Games. Despite being teased as the potential outside addition to Roman Reign's faction, WWE's creative department chose to go in a different direction.

On Saturday, Paul Heyman returned to WWE programming, shockingly introducing CM Punk as the fifth member of the OGs. Punk will now join Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso and Sami Zayn to face Solo Sikoa and his group of goons.

However, Punk's addition means that Rollins is on the outside looking in. His rivalry with Big Bronson Reed — who recently teamed up with Sikoa — made perfect sense as to why he would help Reigns. Rollins wasn't present in last week's episode of Raw, following another defeat at Reed's hands.

According to Vince Russo, WWE creative has to find a way of incorporating Rollins into the War Games match. He believes Rollins deserves to be part of arguably the biggest match of the year, and could even turn heel to make it happen.

"First of all, so, that causes Seth Rollins to lose," Russo said on a recent episode of "The Brand Podcast." "There's no mention, no sight, nothing of Rollins this week. So, for the time being, you've totally buried Seth Rollins now unless he screws CM Punk and he screws them out of the victory at Survivor Series. If you do that and you're turning Seth Rollins heel, fine."

From a business perspective, having Punk team up with the OG Bloodline makes sense. Punk is one of the biggest draws in the sport. There is an underlying story to be told between him and Reigns. And you want your biggest names involved in the most prominent storylines.

However, Rollins has carried WWE at times in recent years. He's one of their biggest names and has consistently put his body on the line for the company. To be discarded so quickly is a callous move that must be made right.

Most fans would likely prefer no interference in the upcoming five-on-five matchup. But perhaps you can position Rollins as a special guest referee. Or maybe he comes out to cut a promo after the match ends.

There are many ways to ensure he stays part of the storyline, at least on the periphery. Whatever happens, Rollins deserves a spot in a major storyline, and that likely means finishing his current feud with Reed.

WWE is experiencing a surge in popularity. Rollins has been a significant part of that growth. It will be interesting to see what type of push the creative department gives him over the next 12 months, even if it's away from The Bloodline angle.
