Whooping Cough Is Surging in China: Here's What to Know

In January and February, China reported a combined 32,380 cases of pertussis, also known as whooping cough. This is a significant increase compared to the 1,421 cases reported during the same period in 2023. Tragically, there were 13 deaths linked to the disease during this surge. It is important for the public to be aware of the symptoms of whooping cough and to seek medical attention if they suspect they or a loved one may have contracted the illness.
