Ukraine display destroyed stand in Germany to remind Euro 2024 of war – video

Ukrainian FA president Andriy Shevchenko presented the shell-blasted seats of a Kharkiv stadium built for Euro 2012 in Munich, hours before Ukraine took to the pitch for the first time during Euro 2024. The UAF said the Sonyachny stadium had been destroyed by Russian shells in 2022. The aim of the display is to bring a stark reminder to these Euros that Ukrainian forces have been engaged in Europe's bloodiest fighting since the second world war, and civilian life in the country has been upended.
