The Langley RCMP says one pedestrian is dead after being hit by a train Wednesday afternoon.
Corp. Zynal Sharoom say crews were called to an incident near 204th Street and Duncan Way around 4:30 p.m.
BC Emergency Health Services tells CityNews that three ground ambulances and an air ambulance were sent to the scene, where paramedics provided emergency medical care for one person.

Sharoom says the person died on the scene, despite efforts by first responders.
“Unfortunately, all life-saving attempts were made by the Langley RCMP, the Langley City Fire [Department], and also BC Ambulance Services. However, the individual — or pedestrian — in this matter succumbed to his injuries,” said Sharoom.
Sharoom says an investigation into the collision has only just begun.
Mounties are urging the public to avoid the area, saying officers will be on scene for a while. The stopped train may be forcing nearby roads to remain closed.
