The Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors are both firmly out of the NBA’s playoff picture heading into the final stretch of the regular season. The two will meet up north of the border Monday night for the third matchup this season. 

Brooklyn is a modest road favorite despite a six-game losing streak. The Nets have dropped their last five away games but will look to pull away against the lowly Raptors, which haven’t won since March 3, losing 10 straight since. Which skid gets snapped Monday night in Canada?

Cam Thomas: Thomas is averaging 21.5 points per game this season and continues to produce points with a high usage rate. Thomas is averaging 24.9 a night in March despite struggles from beyond the arc. Thomas is 8-of-35 from 3-point range over the last six games. He’s coming off a 19-point performance in Saturday’s loss to the Knicks, his first game under 20 points this month. 

Toronto Raptors

Gary Trent Jr.: The former second-round pick is taking advantage of injuries in the Raptors’ lineup. He’s received an increased workload (33.4 minutes per game in March) and is averaging 21.1 points per game this month. He’s coming off a 31-point night in Saturday’s three-point loss to the Wizards. 

It’s hard to trust a team with nothing to play for as a road favorite. The Nets are just 2-6 ATS as a road favorite and are tied with the Atlanta Hawks for the worst road ATS record in the NBA this season at 12-23. 

Since a Feb. 26 win at Memphis, the Nets have gone just 1-8 straight up on the road with losses to some of the league’s worst teams (Charlotte, San Antonio, Detroit). Can you really back Brooklyn? 

Yes, Toronto has obviously had its post-All Star Break slide, but laying points with a Brooklyn offense that is No. 27 in shooting percentage is too tall of a task. The Nets are No. 25 in scoring offense this season regardless of venue, putting up just 109 points per game on the road.

Offensively, the Raptors have eclipsed the 100-point mark in seven of their last nine games and should have enough in the tank to cover against a Nets squad that is a different unit outside Barclays Center. Take Toronto with the points.
