Rays: 5, Marlins: 3 - Zach and Bullpen Complete Sweep
After a comeback win yesterday against the Miami Marlins, Rays look to complete a quick 2 game sweep with newly activated Zach Eflin on the mound.
Rays got things started early in the top of the 1st inning, with Randy Arozarena working a walk and Brandon Lowe continuing his hot streak with a single to put runners on the corners with Isaac Parades up.
A pulled ground ball past 3rd base scores the Rays first 2 runs, and another double by Josh Lowe gave the Rays a quick 3-0 lead.
The lead was short lived as Rays gave up a run on a Jesus Sanchez double to score Bryan De La Cruz, and then Otto Lopez singled to bring Sanchez home and cut the Rays lead down to 1.
Rays got back to back to back doubles by Randy Arozarena, Brandon Lowe and Isaac Parades added two more runs to give the Rays a 3 run lead back.
Rays lead 5-2 after 3 innings.
Zach Eflin reached his pitch limit by the end of the 4th inning, and was replaced by Shawn Armstrong.
Eflins final line: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER and 3 Ks on 55 pitches.
Shawn Armstrong came in for Eflin, and got in a bit of trouble, giving up a hit to Vidal Brujan, who moved over to third on a HBP and a sac fly. A single by Josh Bell gave the Marlins another run back, but Armstrong worked his way out.
The rest of the bullpen performed as expected, with a combination of Richard Lovelady, Jason Adam, Garrett Cleavinger and Pete Fairbanks keeping the Marlins off the board.
