Sydney Sweeney Says Go Ahead, Step Outside in Just Your Sequined Underwear

Miu Miu says the pantsless trend is back for another season—and we’re okay with that.

This time, the fad has a new celebrity champion: Sydney Sweeney. The actor showed up to support Miu Miu at the label’s Fall/Winter 2024 show in Paris today, and instead of pants opted for silky white underwear covered entirely in silver sequins and beads; the elastic at the top was not embellished, but rather featured a black patch with the brand’s logo stamped front and center. The Anyone but You star wore the underwear over transparent black tights from Calzedonia, and paired them with a top that consisted of a plunging cropped black tank layered over a slightly larger white tank with a subtly frayed edge.

Over the top, Sweeney wore a long black blazer, which also featured a white underlayer with a frayed edge. The blazer went down past the actor’s underwear, creating the illusion she was wearing a minidress when she was photographed from the back.

Sweeney capped off the look with a pair of silky black platform peep-toe heels, a quilted mini handbag, and black oval shades, all from the fashion house. Her only jewelry was a pair of large white diamond stud earrings. As for glam, the Miu Miu ambassador wore rosy makeup and a messy, side-parted long bob.

Readers may recall that Emma Corrin debuted the sequin underwear when she walked down the runway for Miu Miu’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection last year. Then, it was styled with a beige sweater, transparent black tights, and caramel-colored peep-toe heels. Corrin also wore Miu Miu underwear—with a matching cardigan, tights, and brown wingtip oxfords—to the Venice Film Festival that September.

The underwear-as-outside-clothes look has also been championed by celebrities including Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner, the latter of whom single-handedly brought back everyone’s love of tights back in 2022 with her ultra-chic no-pants look.
