Swimmer Siobhan Haughey on Friday finished fourth in the final of the 100-metre freestyle event at the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest.

The Hong Kong swimmer finished her two laps with a time of 51.41 seconds, more than a full second behind first-place American Gretchen Walsh who took gold with a 50.31-second finish.

Beryl Gastaldello of France clocked in a time of 50.63 seconds for the silver medal, while 14-time Championships medallist Kate Douglass claimed bronze at 50.73 seconds.

Haughey, 27, qualified for the final after coming in fifth overall in yesterday's semi-finals, where she recorded a time of 51.83 seconds.

Up next for Haughey is the 200-metre freestyle on Sunday, where she will be looking to defend her title as she competes in what will be one of her last races before going on hiatus.
