Saquon Barkley's monster night was even better than the statistics suggest

By now, you've heard about Saquon Barkley's phenomenal performance during the Philadelphia Eagles win over the Los Angeles Rams. Or, you watched it while it was unfolding. It's been an hour or so since this one wrapped. We haven't caught our breath yet, but we can't sleep either.

You know what that means.

Going forward, we'll never hear the number 300 without thinking of him. There's that 300 movie, and there's Saquon Barkley, but staring at the number doesn't even tell the entire story.

Let's dig into this one for a second. Saquon Barkley notched 302 yards from scrimmage. He notched 255 yards on the ground and added 47 as a receiver. As great as that sounds, his night was even better than the stats suggest.

He set a franchise record for rushing yards in a game. That's also the ninth-highest rushing yards total in NFL history. He tied the 10th-highest total for all-time scrimmage yards in a single game. He notched the 5th most scrimmage yards by a running back in a single game and the fourth-most since 2000.

This one is simply to run some salt in the wound. How fun has it been to watch the New York Giants flounder?

Saquon outgained the entire Giants offense on the ground in Week 12 by a 302-245 margin. He also doubled them in TDs. Try a 2-1 ratio on for size.

Oh, and by the way, he has outgained the entire Giants offense in rushing yards for the season: 1,392 rushing yards for Barkley vs. 1,275 for the G-Men. 1,392 yards rushing is now his career-high for a single season.

With six games remaining, he's on pace to land at 2,151 yards rushing. If he stays healthy, he'll get it done.
