Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC, (BigsNBC) a mentoring program in Prince George geared for young people, is fundraising on Pink Shirt Day, Wednesday, Feb. 28, as they challenge all Northern BC residents to wear pink, promote kindness and stand together in the fight against bullying.

This is the 11th annual Pink Shirt Day in Prince George.

Big Brothers Big Sisters reported that one in five children are affected by bullying. Mentoring programs help to support children being bullied as well as those doing the bullying to find ways to cope and succeed. Since 2013 BigsNBC has raised more than $120,000 to be reinvested back into youth mentoring programs.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters are selling Believe in Kindness T-shirts and have partnered with several businesses in Prince George to help raise funds.

Tim Hortons is selling pink donuts at the Central, BCR site, Massey, College Heights, downtown and 15th and Ospika locations with proceeds going to BigsNBC.

Grab a meal at McDonald's on Wednesday and donate to the cause. At Central Builders’ customers wearing pink can get 10 per cent off their purchases and the store will make a donation to the Bigs of Northern BC.

When you make a pink purchase at Blissful Bubbles a donation will be made to the local BBBS.

At Carl’s Jr. when customers purchase a milkshake, $1 will be donated to the cause. At Open Door Café grab a pink lemonade to guarantee a donation will be made.
