Memphis Grizzlies All-Star guard Ja Morant is impressed by the Notre Dame backcourt duo of Olivia Miles and Hannah Hidalgo. Morant shared his thoughts on social media about the duo's campaign in the tough ACC.

Morant took to X (formerly Twitter) to give props to the two, who had themselves a ball game in their 79-68 home victory on Thursday against Paige Bueckers and the No. 2-ranked UConn Huskies.

The Grizzlies superstar wrote:

"Hannah Hidalgo & Olivia Miles nice!!"

Notre Dame leading scorer Hidalgo top-scored against the Huskies with a game-high 29 points. The sophomore guard also had 10 rebounds and eight assists.

Olivia Miles finished with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Fighting Irish, who have won three straight and improved to 8-2 for the season.

Notre Dame next plays on Saturday against the Eastern Michigan Eagles.

Ja Morant playing solid basketball after shortened season last time around

Limited to just nine games last season, Ja Morant is playing solid basketball in the ongoing campaign, leading his team to renewed competitiveness.

The former second overall pick (2019) from Murray State sat out the early part of the 2023-24 NBA season as he served a league-imposed suspension over off-court issues. Nine games into his return to action, he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury during team practice.

Now healthy and armed with the lessons of a tough season, Ja Morant is playing with added bounce in the ongoing campaign. He spoke about his frame of mind for the season:

"Right now, I'm happy, and that's my main focus. I feel like a happy Ja is a scary Ja for a lot of people. So long as I stay happy and healthy, it'll be a great season."

Ja Morant has been producing all-around numbers for the Grizzlies this season, with 21.7 points, 8.5 assists, 4.4 rebounds and a steal in 28 minutes. More importantly, under his lead, Memphis has been battling it out with the rest of the field, holding a 17-8 record, third in the Western Conference.

It has been a turnaround from their showing last season, where they compiled an overall record of 27-55. Memphis has won three straight and will hope to sustain the winning run when it plays the Brooklyn Nets at home on Friday.
