Why is the 2024 NBA Cup Final Four played in Las Vegas?
Just four teams remain in contention to win the 2024 NBA Cup and lift the new trophy in only the competition’s second season.
Last year, the Lakers secured the inaugural win defeating the Indiana Pacers in the Vegas final and this year we’ll have a new winner with the Milwaukee Bucks vs Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets vs OKC Thunder the four remaining semifinalists.
As things stand, the Thunder are the team strongly tipped by many to secure the second NBA Cup title.
Both semi-final games are scheduled for Saturday, 14 December and both match-ups along with Tuesday’s final will be played at the 20,000 capacity T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Why Vegas?
Las Vegas is one of the fastest growing cities in the US and continues to establish itself as a key sporting destination.
The city already boasts four major sporting institutions with NHL’s Las Vegas Golden Knights, NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces and baseball’s Las Vegas Athletics set to set up shop imminently following their relocation from Oakland.
The city has also recently been in the conversation when it comes to NBA expansion teams along with Seattle and Adam Silver has made no secret of his commitment to Las Vegas, ever since the start of the locally based NBA Summer League. There has even been talk of Lakers star LeBron James taking charge of the franchise in the ‘City of Sin’.

“We really appreciate how Las Vegas has developed in the 20 years we’ve been here, to the point where we can say it is the undisputed entertainment capital of the world,” Silver said during a news conference at the NBA Summer League in July. “We look forward to doing even more here.”
