Mexico needed a herculean effort in the final 10 minutes of its last Concacaf World Cup qualifying match against Jamaica to come away with a 2-1 win on Thursday. El Tri will be looking for a more decisive result against Costa Rica when the final round of qualifying continues on Sunday. Mexico's back is against the wall, and with limited opportunities remaining to climb back to the top of the Concacaf standings, Sunday's showdown is crucial. You can see what happens when you stream all the action on Paramount+.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET. Caesars Sportsbook lists Mexico as the -380 favorite (risk $380 to win $100) on the 90-minute money line in its latest Mexico vs. Costa Rica odds, while Costa Rica is the massive +1000 underdog. A draw is priced at +350 and the over-under for total goals scored is set at 2.5. Sunday's showdown will be streamed live on Paramount+ with their must-have Premium plan.

Concacaf World Cup qualifying picks for Costa Rica vs. Mexico

Before you tune in to Sunday's World Cup qualifiers, you need to see the Mexico vs. Costa Rica picks from soccer insider Martin Green. After working in the sports betting industry for several years, Green became a professional sports writer and handicapper and has covered the game worldwide. Since then, his European soccer picks have been spot-on. Green has generated over $37,000 for $100 bettors since the 2017-18 season, and he has his finger on the pulse of the game all over the globe.

For Mexico vs. Costa Rica, Green is backing Mexico to win and under 3.5 goals at -125 odds. Only two of Mexico's last six matches have featured more than three goals, and the last time Costa Rica pushed a matchup between the two past that threshold was in 2018. Mexico has failed to score more than two times in a match since October, and with the pressure mounting on El Tri to advance to the World Cup, nerves become a bigger factor, even at home.

Although the gravity of the match underscores the importance of the situation for Mexico, the experience on its roster should prove advantageous. Costa Rica shouldn't be the aggressor on Sunday with so much on the line for the home side. The gap in talent and confidence favors the home team, and Mexico should end the match with its prospects for advancement to the World Cup intact.

"Mexico also has a lot of veteran stars – Guillermo Ochoa, Héctor Moreno, Néstor Araujo, Andrés Guardado and Héctor Herrera form the spine of the team," Green told SportsLine. "But it has more youthful dynamism than Costa Rica, and a lot more depth within its squad."
