Meteor Showers Viewing at Jackson College Astronomical Observatory. 9 PM to 1 AM. The Jackson College Astronomical Observatory is hosting a special late-night event this Wednesday, July 31 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. outdoors. Gaze up at the night sky and witness the stunning Southern Delta Aquariids, Alpha Capricornids, and Perseids meteor showers! It’s a rare opportunity to see these celestial wonders up close. Grab your friends and family and join us for an unforgettable evening of stargazing and cosmic wonder. Community members welcome. The Astronomical Observatory site is located on the east side of campus; enter from Emmons Road and follow the service drive to the left. In addition to the observatory, a cement pad and piers with power supply are available for amateur stargazers to set up their own telescopes.
Kiwanis Kids Film Series: “Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse” After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. The Michigan Theatre Kids Film Series is sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Jackson. Showtimes are 11 AM and 2 PM. Doors open one half hour before showtimes. Kids Combo: Small Drink and Popcorn for $5. Admission is $1. Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.
City of Jackson Summer Safety Series Event. City of Jackson Police and Fire Services is hosting its first Summer Safety Series. This five event series will connect residents with public safety in neighborhood parks. The events will feature free food, games, giveaways, safety information, and bike raffles with helmets for ages 12 and under. Every event will feature two $50 Visa gift card giveaways for ages 13 to 18 years old. Fire trucks and police patrol cars will be at each event for residents to get a close look at them. The events will run from 12 to 2:00 p.m. Today’s event is at Nixon Park, 400 E. North St.
Wednesday Family Night at The Cascades. Wednesday Family Night Show starts at 7:30 PM. Admission: $10 for up to 8 family members. Live entertainment plus special costumed characters every week! Tonight: Bad Mojo and the Paw Patrol! All shows are weather permitting. Visit jacksoncountyparks.org.
