“In the last year alone, our team received thousands of inquiries on social media from very passionate Canadian McRib fans asking to bring it back here,” Alyssa Buetikofer, vice president and chief marketing officer at McDonald’s Canada, said in a statement.
“The McRib is truly a fan favourite,” she continued. “It appeals to guests of all ages — from loyal followers who have patiently waited a decade for its return, to our newer fans who have only heard the legend.”

McDonald’s Canada has been teasing the return of the “international icon” for the last few days on social media, including a text exchange between McDonald’s and the “McRibbbb,” whose last message was on Feb. 14, 2014, the last time the sandwich was in Canada.
The restaurant chain also looked at what the McRib may have missed over the last decade to the official announcement of the sandwich’s return.

“Takes deep breath, prepares for chaos,” McDonald’s wrote as it counted down to “McRib mania.”
Indeed, McRib lovers took to social media to show their appreciation for the saucy comeback.
“Salivating right now,” one person drooled.
Another added: “I’m almost in tears.”
A third commented: “McRib, I’ll accept you with a side part and skinny jeans. Just come back to me.”

Even people who aren’t fans of the sandwich were happy for its return.
“McRib is that ex that you think about from time to time, you don’t love em anymore, but you want em to do well.”
And because you can’t please everyone, others requested other menu items to follow in the McRib’s footsteps, from the cinnamelts, the Big Xtra and, of course, the personal pizzas.
The McRib was first introduced in the United States in 1981 as a limited-time item.
