Larry Walker reps SpongeBob SquarePants again with pin at Hall of Fame ceremony
On the day he was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame, Larry Walker made the most important wardrobe decision of his life and landed on a shirt that featured fabled Nickelodeon cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants.
The visual of Walker explaining arguably the most important day of his life while wearing a smiling SpongeBob went viral that night.
So Walker made sure SpongeBob was with him onstage for his induction, postponed from last summer to Wednesday, with a pin on the left side of his suit jacket.
Walker is the second Canadian-born player to be inducted to the Hall (pitcher Ferguson Jenkins was the first).
Walker was elected with 76.6% of the vote, and the 53-year-old was on his final try on the ballot. Alongside Walker, Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, former players' union director Marvin Miller and Cardinals catcher Ted Simmons were enshrined on Wednesday.
