On Matchday three of the CAF 2026 World Cup qualifiers Kenya will be going up against Burundi at the Bingu National Stadium in a Group F encounter on Friday evening, 6 June.
Kick-off is at 15:00 CAT.
The team led by Engin Firat is hoping to continue their winning streak against the Intamba, who they have not lost to in their previous five encounters.
Kenya’s World Cup qualifying campaign began with a 2-1 loss to Gabon; however, they quickly bounced back with a commanding 5-0 victory against Seychelles.
Within the first six minutes, Michael Olunga scored twice. Masoud Juma Choka, Rooney Onyango, and Benson Omala also scored, giving the East Africans three points and third place in Group F.
Since then, the Harambee Stars have discovered their scoring prowess, scoring seven goals in two games (a 4-0 triumph over Malawi and a 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe) with just one goal conceded en route to winning a four-team competition in March.
For their match against Burundi, Firat will be hoping that his team can continue their scoring form, as neither team has scored more than one goal in each of their previous encounters.
Burundi lost 2-1 against Gabon at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, failing to capitalise on their opening World Cup qualifying victory (3-2 over Gambia).
As a result, Burundi slid to fourth position in Group F, trailing Kenya despite being tied on points but with a worse goal difference.
The Swallows have not picked up a win in four matches, recording three defeats in the process and one draw.
