Kendrick Lamar Announces Grand National Tour, SZA Potentially Joining Trek
Kendrick Lamar is leaning into album mode following the surprise release of his latest body of work, GNX, as the Compton wordsmith has announced his upcoming Grand National Tour with a post on social media.
Shared Tuesday (Dec 3) morning, the post features a black-and-white image of Lamar standing behind a low wall while TDE songstress SZA sits in front of it, signaling to many that she will be joining him on the trek. “grand national tour @cashapp visa card presale tomorrow at 10am,” reads the plainly stated notice.
While dates have yet to be revealed, fans are already anticipating hearing tracks from the new project live. The album has become an instant hit, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 319,000 equivalent album units sold in the U.S. during the week ending Nov. 28. Single “squabble up” also dethroned Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” as the No. 1 song on the Hot 100 Chart, followed by “tv off” (No. 2), “luther” (No. 3) “wacced out murals” (No. 4) and “hey now” (No. 5). Kendrick also took the 8th and 9th slots with “reincarnated” and “Man At The Garden,” respectively.
Lamar last pounded the pavement on his Big Steppers Tour, supporting his fifth studio album, 2022’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. The trek grossed $110,886,026, making it the highest-grossing rap tour of all time until Travis Scott’s 2024 Circus Maximus Tour.
As for SZA, the “luther” collaborator embarked on her own SOS Tour from February 2023 until May 2024 in support of her sophomore album of the same name.
