Video: Rogan freaks out over Holloway's UFC 300 buzzer beater
Those watching UFC 300 just experienced one of the greatest moments in the sport’s history: Max Holloway knocking out Justin Gaethje with just one second left on the clock in their “BMF” tile fight tonight (Sat., April 13, 2024) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Even though he was likely up 4-0, Holloway reacted to the ten second clacker by pointing to the center of the cage and inviting Gaethje to brawl with him for the final seconds. That’s Justin Gaethje, one of the hardest hitters in the division. He’d knocked Holloway down earlier in the fight, and giving him an opportunity to slug things out seemed crazy.
Crazy awesome.
Gaethje accepted, and both men starting winging full power punches. When the smoke cleared, Gaethje was face down on the canvas with one second left on the clock (watch all the fight highlights here).
We couldn’t believe it watching from home, and we can’t imagine what it was like to experience in person. UFC fighters up front were certainly wowed. Check out this shot of Israel Adesanya, Ilia Topuria, and Tom Aspinall reacting to the insane finish:
Let’s not ignore Joe Rogan, who practically invented the entire fight finish reaction genre. He’s gone viral several times freaking out over wild finishes, and I think we have a fine new addition to the collection:
Max Holloway’s knockout of Justin Gaethje will go down in as one of the craziest finishes in UFC history. It happening at UFC 300 is just the cherry on top.
We can’t wait to see what’s next for Max after this. A Lightweight or Featherweight title shot? Ilia Topuria certainly isn’t going to be able to claim Holloway doesn’t deserve a title shot after what we just witnessed.
Based on his reaction, he knows that already.
