UFC 300 live blog: Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway

This is the UFC 300 live blog for Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway, the “BMF” title fight this Saturday in Las Vegas.

One of the most exciting fighters to ever step into the cage, Gaethje solidified his action-fighter legacy by claiming the vacant “BMF” title with a knockout win over Dustin Poirier in their rematch at UFC 291. That win was supposed to set Gaethje up for a lightweight title shot against Islam Makhachev, but when the UFC came calling to fight Holloway at UFC 300, “The Highlight” stepped up.

One of the most beloved fighters competing in MMA today, Holloway is a former UFC featherweight champion with three successful title defenses under his belt. He also once tried unsuccessfully to jump up to lightweight and claim an interim title at 155 pounds, but fell short against Dustin Poirier. Now Holloway returns to 155 pounds to chase a different kind of gold, and perhaps a second chance at a lightweight title shot.
