"Maybe he likes ghosts more than he likes people."

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire star and comedian James Acaster has teased his character, Lars Pinfield, in the upcoming sci-fi film.

The latest instalment of the long-running and well-loved franchise will follow the Ghostbusters as they encounter a new, malevolent and distinctly chilly supernatural force, and is set to feature original stars Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, Annie Potts and William Atherton.

They will be joined by the new generation of characters, who were introduced in the previous film (2021's Ghostbusters: Afterlife) including Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, and British comedian James Acaster.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the film's premiere, Acaster has revealed some crucial character information while discussing joining such an iconic movie dynasty.

"His name's Lars Pinfield, he works in the Ghostbusters' lab as a scientist and inventor," he began.

"Maybe he likes ghosts more than he likes people, but he's finally found the group that he belongs in."

On whether Lars had any specific character inspiration, Acaster confirmed that his character was an "Elon Spengler type", but that he didn't want to end up mimicking another role.

On joining the massive franchise, Acaster said: "I mean, it feels too big to comprehend a lot of the time.

"I've loved Ghostbusters since I can remember, had the backpack, lunchbox, watched the cartoons all the time, so it feels like you're stepping into something that's always been a part of your life."

He added: "Maybe when I watch this [film] it'll sink in a bit more."

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will be released in cinemas March 22.
