George Clooney and Brad Pitt Are Professional Fixers in Sony's Wolfs Trailer
Following a first look teaser yesterday, Sony has released the first official trailer for Wolfs. The upcoming action comedy film reunites global superstars George Clooney and Brad Pitt, who previously starred together in the Ocean's franchise and 2008's Burn After Reading.
The trailer begins by introducing audiences to Clooney's professional fixer, Jack, who specializes in making other people's problems go away. After wrapping up at the site of his latest job, Jack is interrupted by another professional fixer, Nick (Pitt), with neither thrilled to see the other one. While both would prefer to work alone, their boss forces them to work together, much to their chagrin. Things only spiral from there as the trailer shows Pitt and Clooney's fixers getting caught up in a series of dangerous and chaotic events. The official trailer can be viewed below.
How Apple TV+'s Sugar Evoked the Darywn Cooke DC Classic, The New Frontier
The new acclaimed Apple TV+ series, Sugar, starring Colin Farrell, has an interesting connection to Darwyn Cooke's classic series, DC: The New FrontieThe official synopsis for Wolfs reads as follows: "Clooney plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a high profile crime. But when a second fixer (Pitt) shows up and the two 'lone wolves' are forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected."
Apple TV+ and Sony Reunite for Wolfs
After partnering on Ridley Scott's historical epic Napoleon, Apple TV+ and Sony have come together again to release Wolfs, with the latter handling the movie's theatrical distribution. Following Wolfs' hopefully successful run at the box office, Apple (who holds the rights to Wolfs) will debut the action comedy movie onto its streaming service. This joint-release strategy was also used by Apple for Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon, allowing both Apple and Paramount to recoup some of the movie's hefty $200 million budget from the global box office.
Apple TV+ Cancels New Series Two Months After Debut
Apple TV+ has squashed a new series just two months after its streaming premiere.Wolfs marks writer/director Jon Watts' first original film since helming all three installments in Marvel Studios and Sony's Spider-Man trilogy — Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019), and No Way Home (2021) — starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Announced in September 2021, Wolfs began shooting in New York City in January 2023, although production was briefly halted in July due to the SAG-AFTRA strike but resumed following the strike's conclusion.
Could Wolfs Lead to Another Ocean's Movie?
If Wolfs is a commercial success, it could very well spur Warner Bros. into greenlighting a new entry in its Ocean's franchise. Clooney recently discussed the possibility of an Ocean's 14 in December 2023, revealing that "a really good script for another Ocean's" had been written, "so we may end up doing another one." However, Clooney refused to confirm if the script was for Ocean's 14, only revealing that "the idea is kind of like Going in Style." Warner Bros. is currently working on an Ocean's prequel that will reunite Barbie co-stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
Wolfs is scheduled to hit theaters on Sept. 20, 2024, before streaming on Apple TV+ at a later date.
