The Mane Event: Dove Care Labs Is Back, Reveals the Future of Hair Repair

Split ends? Frizz? Dryness? We've all been there. The struggle to find a solution for damaged hair can feel endless.

But don’t fret. True to its promise of making beauty and haircare solutions accessible to Filipinas, beauty and personal care brand Dove mounted for the second year its immersive beauty event, Dove Care Labs. Its main focus? Hair damage. The proposed solution? Dove's new, revolutionary shampoo and conditioner line: Bio-Protein Care.

Infused with powerful ingredients often used in skincare and created with Dove’s bio-mimetic technology, the products from the Bio-Protein Care line work in harmony with the hair's natural biology to help repair and restore damaged strands with regular use. It is also being positioned as the future of hair repair.

Held on May 8, 2024, at Whitespace Manila in Makati City, Dove Care Labs transformed the expansive studio into a futuristic and immersive lab for women to understand their hair better.

Participants learned how Dove combines care and science into its haircare products. The event was jam-packed with informative talks, interactive experiences, and many exciting makeovers.

Toward the Future of Haircare

The event kicked off with eye-opening insights from Dove’s recent survey on Filipinas’ experiences with hair damage.

Dove Assistant Brand Manager Maia Coronel revealed that based on the brand's findings, hair damage is becoming more prevalent among Filipinas. This reaffirmed Dove's commitment to addressing this struggle by helping make hair repair solutions accessible to all.

“We are deeply committed to providing women with the care that they deserve, and that is what each and every one of you will discover today,” Coronel said. “We’ve designed this [Dove Care Labs] space to take you on an immersive and multi-sensorial hair journey, with each room unlocking a newfound understanding of your hair, what it needs, and how you can care for it.”

Dove Research and Development Scientist Anna Tongco was also present to speak about the science of hair damage and how the brand's new haircare range, Bio-Protein Care, can help.

“While a lot of haircare products will work on the outside of the hair, coating the outer layer, Bio-Protein Care is able to penetrate the hair strands,” Tongco explained.

She added: “[It works] with the structures that are inside, the ones that contribute to strength and shape, [helping reinforce them]. So, even if the strands are damaged, [the Bio-Protein Care line is] able to provide support for it from the inside and out with every wash.”

A Sensory-Awakening Experience

After the informative discussions, the studio was filled with excitement as the stage dramatically revealed a hidden tunnel. Stepping inside, guests were treated to a sensory-awakening experience. The tunnel walls projected videos of the everyday causes of hair damage, encouraging the attendees to become more proactive in taking care of their hair.

Empowered with this newfound knowledge, the participants emerged from the tunnel to find themselves at the centerpiece of Dove Care Labs: the Bio-Protein Care product exhibit.

The space, fully decked out into a hair science playground, showcased each of the four shampoo and conditioner variants, letting guests get a closer look into how the Bio-Protein Care line works to help rebuild damaged hair proteins from within.

The four variants include the following:

Dove Ceramide Intense Repair: A shampoo and conditioner duo with ceramides, this helps seal in nutrients and protect the hair’s outer layer with regular use.

Dove Bio-Keratin Straight & Silky: Also coming in shampoo and conditioner versions, this variant has bio-keratin and helps smoothen and protect hair from humidity and frizz with regular use.

Dove Biotin Hairfall Rescue: With biotin as its hero ingredient, this shampoo and conditioner pair helps fortify weakened hair with regular use.

Dove Restorative Oil Nourishing Care: This shampoo and conditioner variant has powerful restorative oils like argan oil, marula oil, and sunflower seed oil, and helps lock in moisture in the hair with regular use.

Surrounding the exhibit was the crowd-favorite Hair Assessment station. Here, Dove ambassadors analyzed guests' hair strands using a high-tech hair scanner. This nifty device evaluated the level of hair damage, allowing the ambassadors to recommend the appropriate Bio-Protein Care variant for each participant’s specific needs.

Armed with these personalized recommendations, the guests were led to the Hair Washing station where their chosen products were applied. The hair-washing experience took on a unique turn as a ceiling-projected video showcased the Dove Bio-Protein Care line in action.

Then, the participants proceeded to the Hair Styling Station to complete their hair transformation. Nobody was worrying about the heat-styling tools and other hair-styling products as the new Bio-Protein Care line promises to help reverse signs of damage with regular use.

Finally, the attendees trooped to the Glamour Wall to unveil their finished looks. They all posed against a lit-up gold Dove logo, happily flaunting their shiny, beautiful hair.
