Brothers 2 Can Replace The Missed Opportunity From Adam ...
Warning: Spoilers for Amazon's Brothers below!A Brothers sequel could fulfill the failed franchise potential of a cult Adam Driver comedy. Although not officially a remake, Amazon's Brothers feels very much like an update of Twins. This hit 1988 comedy was essentially sold on the poster, where Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito were billed as identical twin brothers; hilarity ensued. The casting of Brothersis pulling a similar move, with Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage as mismatched criminal twins setting out to pull one last score. Along the way, they also reunite with their estranged, untrustworthy mother, played by Glenn Close.
Brothers has attracted lukewarm reviews thus far, but it can't be denied that Dinklage and Brolin share great chemistry. Even when the material is shaky, the two leads invest audiences in the relationship between the siblings, and the ending of Brothers leaves them on a hopeful note. They both appear to have put their criminal pasts behind them when the credits roll - though it wouldn't take much for Dinklage's Jady or Brolin's Moke to get back in business either.
Brothers 2 Gets Enthusiastic Response From Director Who Teases An "Ocean's 11 Style" Heist
Exclusive: Brothers 2 receives an enthusiastic response from director Max Barbakow, who teases an "Ocean's 11-style" heist for the sequel.
Logan Lucky Had A Great Opportunity To Be The New Ocean's Eleven Series After 92% RT Success
Brothers is a heist franchise waiting to happen
Time will tell how Brothers performs for Amazon, but with such a great cast - which includes Brendan Fraser as the villain - the odds of attracting some eyeballs are strong. While it doesn't set up a sequel, it wouldn't take much work to set one up and it would be nice to have a new entry with Brolin and Dinklage every few years. Brothers can also fill in for the heist franchise gap that Logan Lucky failed to back in 2017.
Logan Lucky followed two brothers who team up to stage a heist during a NASCAR race, with an impressive ensemble that included Adam Driver, Channing Tatum and Daniel Craig. The film was helmed by Steven Soderbergh, director of Ocean's Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen, who obviously knows his way around a heist thriller. Logan Lucky also received an impressive 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, but only earned a disappointing $48 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo).
Regardless, the movie seems to earn more fans with each passing year. Had it been a bigger hit, there's a universe where Soderbergh could have found his Ocean's franchise replacement, and reunited with his Logan Lucky cast every few years for a new entry.
Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage previously co-starred in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, though their characters shared no screentime.
Josh Brolin & Peter Dinklage's Brothers 2 Movie Can Be The New Family-Centered Ocean's 11 Replacement
A Brothers sequel could also fix the flaws of the original
Brothers is largely held together by its cast, who prop up the film whenever a gag falls flat or a new story contrivance arrives. If the comedy is a success, a sequel could learn from the errors of the original and have a more successful blending of emotion and bad taste gags. An elaborate Ocean's-inspired heist would be a fun addition to Brothers 2 as well - and this is an angle director Max Barbakow has already suggested a follow-up would take. There's also room for a sequel to add more members to the crew.

Reuniting former Game of Thrones co-stars (and real-life besties) Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey for a follow-up could be fun, for instance, especially if the latter plays his character's long-lost sister. While there is an Ocean's prequel and sequel lingering in development, Brothers could become the scuzzy flipside to that franchise. All that's needed is the right hook..
What Brothers 2's Story Could Be After The 2024 Movie's Ending
There are plenty of directions a Brothers sequel could take
Brothers ends with Jady and Moke having put the past behind them, with the latter having a baby girl with wife Abby (Taylour Paige). Their mother Cath also goes to prison but managed to smuggle a couple of valuable emeralds to Jady during a visit. It sounds like the bros are ready to leave the criminal world behind - but a sequel could see them in desperate need of cash and having to pull another "one last job" kind of job.
Considering Jady and Moke hadn't seen their mother Cath for over 30 years, there's even a chance she started another family and they have half-siblings who come around to cause trouble...
Cath could get out of jail and rope them into another of her plots, or maybe somebody from their past comes for revenge. Considering Jady and Moke hadn't seen Cath for over 30 years, there's even a chance she started another family and they have half-siblings who come around to cause trouble. It would be nice to see Abby getting more to do next time also, since Paige is wildly underused in Brothers.
A sequel could even pull an Ocean's-style twist, and force the brothers to work alongside former enemy Farful (Fraser). Again, coming up with a premise for a sequel wouldn't be hard, though conceiving one that reunites the entire cast is another question. Even if Brothers 2 doesn't happen, hopefully Dinklage and Brolin will still find something else to work on, because their chemistry is too good to waste.
