UNT partnering with Titomic Limited
Dec. 18—The University of North Texas (UNT) has partnered with Titomic Limited, the world's leading provider of cold spray solutions, to install a customized Titomic Kinetic Fusion (TKF) Cold Spray System. This cutting-edge system will enable UNT's Center for Agile and Adaptive Additive Manufacturing (CAAAM) to drive advanced research, foster industry collaboration, and enhance its educational initiatives.
Cold spray is an innovative technology that sprays metal powders at high speeds to create or repair metal components without the need for melting. This process enables stronger, more durable structures while avoiding issues like warping or thermal damage commonly associated with traditional manufacturing techniques. This significant investment in a novel and highly specialized technology will provide UNT with capabilities rarely available in academic or industrial settings, a news release said.
The TKF system will allow UNT to produce and study multi-metal structures, develop multi-metal coatings that address corrosion and wear, and design repair solutions for high-value components.
