Arnold Schwarzenegger Uninjured After Four-Car Accident in Los Angeles

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the actor and bodybuilder who was also the governor of California for a little over seven years, was involved in a multi-vehicle accident in Brentwood, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, on Friday. The accident enmeshed four cars, according to a local ABC affiliate.

One woman was transported to a hospital to be treated for a cut to her head, but her injury was reported as minor.

It is unclear if Schwarzenegger, 74, was driving his vehicle, an absolutely enormous SUV, or if he was a passenger. A representative told People that “he is fine, his only concern right now is for the woman who was injured.” Police found no evidence of drugs or alcohol and made no arrests.

Motor vehicle deaths have steadily increased since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic despite reduced driving rates, with speeding reported as one factor. 

Around this time last year, Schwarzenegger made headlines with a video in which he compared the January 6 insurgents at the U.S. Capitol to Kristallnacht and explained how growing up in post-World War II Austria gave him insight into the psychology of hate. “I heard it with my own ears and saw it with my own eyes,” he said.

In October 2020, Schwarzenegger underwent surgery for an aortic valve. At the beginning of the pandemic he encouraged people to stay home with their families to learn how to play chess, as he was doing, cigar-in-mouth, with his donkey Lulu.
