UFC 272 live updates highlights for Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal
Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal's bitter rivalry will come to a head in the main event of UFC 272 and Sporting News will be cageside in Las Vegas with live updates on all of the action.

LAS VEGAS -- Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal will let their fists do the talking as they aim to settle a rivalry between the former friends turned bitter enemies in the main event of UFC 272 at T-Mobile Arena.

MORE: How the UFC helped destroy Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington's friendship ahead of UFC 272

After spending years together as roommates and sparring partners at American Top Team, things took a turn for the worse with one of the most heated rivalries in recent memory. It'll be the first time since UFC 183 that a pay-per-view main event will be a non-title affair between two fighters coming off of a loss.

But the reasoning is due to how heated this rivalry has become and the interest it has generated from fans. Covington is a former interim welterweight champion who fell short in both attempts to unseat current champion Kamaru Usman. Masvidal suffered the same result, falling short by decision and knockout to Usman.

Although there will be no gold on the line, pride and bragging rights may take precedence for Covington and Masvidal.

Sporting News will be cageside in Las Vegas providing live updates for this highly anticipated fight.

UFC 272: Covington vs. Masvidal live updates

9:51 p.m.: Jalin Turner kept his winning streak intact with an impressive second-round TKO of Jamie Mullarkey. After a bit of back and forth in the first round, a right hand to the temple sent Mullarkey to the canvas in the second frame and Turner followed with some vicious ground and pound to collect his fourth consecutive victory with all of them coming inside of the distance.

9:34 p.m.: Marina Rodriguez squeezed out a split decision victory over Yan Xiaonan in an exciting women's strawweight battle that could see Rodriguez put herself in position for a title shot. The largely standup affair saw Rodriguez's pressure and stellar third round upend Xiaonan but it could have easily gone the other way. Very fun fight.

8:52 p.m.: The prelims are underway! Umar Nurmagomedov's total domination of Brian Kelleher formally announced his arrival in the bantamweight division with a first-round submission. Maryna Moroz pulled off a second-round submission over Mariya Agapova and that performance was only overshadowed by her emotional post-fight speech as she poured her soul with her home country of Ukraine at war.
