Espoo has decreased its emissions significantly at 30 per cent lower compared to reference year of 1990 while the Finnish city’s population has grown rapidly.

The Espoo City Council introduced the Carbon-neutral Espoo 2030 roadmap in May 2024

2023 emissions in the Finnish city were reduced in all sectors relevant to the carbon neutrality target: district heating, household electricity and traffic.
