TNA Slammiversary preview Six title bouts NXT AAA wrestlers more

The night is right for Slammiversary. TNA brings the PPV event to Montreal, Quebec, Canada on Saturday, July 20, 2024. Let’s break down the card.

  • Knockouts Championship: Jordynne Grace (c) vs. Ash by Elegance
  • X-Division Championship: Mustafa Ali (c) vs. Mike Bailey
  • TNA World Tag Team Championship: Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards (c) vs. Ace Austin & Chris Bey
  • TNA Digital Media Championship & International Heavyweight Wrestling Championship: AJ Francis (Dolla Two Belts) vs. PCO
  • Rascalz vs. No Quarter Catch Crew

  • Kushida vs. Jonathan Gresham (pre-show)
  • Tasha Steelz vs. Faby Apache vs. Gisele Shaw vs. Xia Brookside (pre-show)

Slammiversary goes live at 8 pm ET through TNA+ and TrillerTV. The pre-show kicks off at 7 pm ET.

Even though the deck is stacked against Moose to retain the TNA world title in a six-way elimination match, I think there is a strong chance he emerges victorious. Transitioning the belt from villain to villain doesn’t seem productive, so I’m crossing Frankie Kazarian and Steve Maclin off the list. Josh Alexander is a good pick on paper, however, TNA has not put the focus on him lately. The Walking Weapon feels like an afterthought in this contest. Nic Nemeth will wrestle with a partially torn labrum, so that injury could be the reason for his downfall. And that leaves Joe Hendry. Say his name, and he appears. Does TNA believe in Hendry as world champion? That’s the big question. Hendry’s rise in popularity has surged due to a catchy entrance tune and viral catchphrase. Hendry is still an underdog at this point, however, it could be time to strike while the iron is hot.

Jordynne Grace has had enough of Ash by Elegance (aka Dana Brooke) trifling in her Knockouts Championship business, so the Juggernaut is going on the offensive to crush the challenger.

Mustafa Ali was furious that Mike Bailey made him look the fool in hometown Chicago. The X-Division champ wants to return the favor to humiliate Bailey in hometown Montreal. Ali is also annoyed that the fans think he is ducking Speedball. To add fuel to the fire, Ali perpetrated assaults on Bailey and ruthlessly injured Bailey’s tag team partner, Trent Seven.

ABC are finally cashing in their tag title shot from losing the belts to the System back in March. Ace Austin and Chris Bey smoothed out tension to reconnect on the same page.

AJ Francis has been a thorn in PCO’s side since ruining the monster’s date with Steph De Lander. Payback is coming from the French-Canadian Frankenstein.

The No Quarter Catch Crew is coming through the Prohibited Portal from NXT once again. Charlie Dempsey, Myles Borne, and Tavion Heights beat Trey Miguel, Zachary Wentz, and Kushida on Impact. The Rascalz duo called in Wes Lee (aka Xavier Dezmond) for a reunion in TNA.

Johnny Dango Curtis is a scoundrel. Not only did he interfere to cost the Hardy Boyz victory over the System for the TNA tag straps, but he also helped with a stretcher job on Jeff Hardy and attacked Reby Hardy backstage. Matt Hardy will be out for blood.

When Mike Santana was in a rage, Jake Something tried to be peacemaker to prevent Santana from going over the line. Santana cooled, but he still talked trash. Jake did not appreciate that disrespect over a good deed, so it’s time to work out their aggression in the ring.

Spitfire have their rematch for the Knockouts tag team titles against the Malisha. Jody Threat and Dani Luna were under the tutelage of Lars Frederiksen, but their coach is moving on.

Jonathan Gresham poisoned the competition with black venom, then Kushida went to the laboratory to concoct an antidote. Now is the test to see which spitting mist is stronger. [EDITOR’S NOTE: TNA announced that Gresham is “unable to compete”, so he’ll be replaced by Rich Swann.]

The women’s four-way with Tasha Steelz, Gisele Shaw, and Xia Brookside is notable for the inclusion of Faby Apache from AAA. She is a four-time Reina de Reinas champion.
