Shohei Ohtani worries Dodgers over possible injury

Shohei Ohtani is certainly having a great season in his first year with the Los Angeles Dodgers, even if he is only playing designated hitter. However, Ohtani himself is not exempt from rough patches and injuries even though he looks like a superhero.

Ohtani's recent issue worries the Dodgers. They fell to the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, though the Japanese player got one hit after going hitless in his last 10 at-bats - a triple.

Ohtani walked practically all the way to third base, which is unusual for the Japanese, but there appears to be a reason for his lack of effort: a possible injury.

Is Ohtani injured?

After the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts actually confirmed that Shohei Ohtani has been dealing with a hamstring injury he suffered during the team's last home series.

It hasn't been serious enough to send him to the injured list, although Roberts himself said that both he and the team's doctors have told the Japanese player to 'be smart' with his injury so as not to aggravate it.

At the moment, Shohei Ohtani leads all of MLB in several offensive categories, such as average (.338), slugging (.628), OPS (1.038), OPS+ (190) and total bases (130), being one of the early candidates for NL MVP.
