United States Bus diversions and traffic closures this Saturday at Palma's Plaza de la Reina square
Different bus lines of the EMT Palma will be partially diverted this Saturday, from 6pm, due to the activities organised in the centre of Palma for the final of the Copa del Rey, which will be played by Athletic Club and RCD Mallorca. For its part, the Local Police will proceed to close several streets located around the Plaza de la Reina.
The detours will affect L3 (Pont d'Inca-Joan Carles I); L4 (ses Illetes-pl Columnes); L7 (Sont Gotleu-Son Xigala); L20 (Portopi-Son Espases); 25 (s'Arenal- Pl de la Reina) and L35 (Aquarium-Pl de la Reina). In the afternoon, the entertainment and musical activities will begin, and given that the match starts at 10pm, the service on these lines in the square will not resume until the following day.
Traffic closures and car park closures
For its part, the Local Police has informed that on the occasion of the installation of the giant screen in the Plaça de la Reina, also from six o'clock in the evening, the officers will close the following roads to traffic:
- Avda. d'Antoni Maura amb Adolfo Suárez / Cristòfol Colom.
- Palau Reial amb Victòria (access to carrer Conquistador).
- Plça. de Joan Carles I (access to Passeig del Born).
Likewise, the municipal police have warned that if the concentration of people exceeds the planned limits in Passeig del Born, Carrer de la Riera with La Rambla and Avinguda Jaume III with Protectora will be closed.
Finally, the municipal car park company (SMAP) explained that the entrance to the Antoni Maura car park will be closed at Plaça de la Reina and the BiciPalma station at Plaça de Joan Carles.
Giant screen in Plaça de la Reina
Palma City Council, in collaboration with Radio Mallorca Cadena SER, will install a giant screen in the square this Saturday so that all fans can follow the final of the Copa del Rey between RCM Mallorca and Ahtletic Bilbao in Seville.
The match will kick off at 10pm so from 6pm musical and entertainment activities have been organised with the aim of livening up the hours leading up to the final. Los 40 Mallorca, with announcer and DJ Oscar Martínez, will be in charge of entertaining the attendees.
With regard to this celebration, the mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez Llabrés, emphasised that "the setting is one of celebration, harmony and sportsmanship, and I'm sure that Saturday will be a competitive and intense match, but we hope to be able to bring home the second cup. The city will be ready to celebrate".
