Kevin Garnett joined the sporting world in supporting Randy Moss following the football great’s announcement that he had bile cancer. Moss went on Instagram Live to share his battle with the Big C. Moss said that he had a surgery called a Whipple procedure but will have more treatment.

“[prayer emojis] my dog”

The former Minnesota Vikings star said in the clip:

“Your boy is a cancer survivor. … I just wanna give a shout-out to a lot of people that really helped me pull through this. Been in the hospital for six days. I just got out today!”

Randy Moss took time off from his work at ESPN as an analyst. He left the network’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” on Dec. 6 to prepare for the operation. The six-time Pro Bowl winner said he was battling something “internally” and asked for “prayer warriors” to step up.

After the operation, the fight continues for Moss as he has to go through radiation and chemotherapy. Kevin Garnett, Fred Taylor and Ryan Clark were a few of the former basketball and NBA stars who showed support for Moss.

The NFL, the Minnesota Vikings and the New England Patriots tweeted heartfelt and encouraging messages on X.

Kevin Garnett and Randy Moss are Minnesota sporting legends

Kevin Garnett put the Minnesota Timberwolves on the basketball map when he entered the NBA as a lanky rookie in 1995. He played 12 seasons for the franchise and led his team to eight postseason runs. The Big Ticket won his only MVP while playing for the Wolves.

Randy Moss entered the NFL three years into Garnett’s career in the NBA. Moss took pro football by storm as the Minnesota Vikings’ best wide receiver. The No. 21 pick in the 1998 draft won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year. Minnesota ended with a 15-1 record in Moss’s rookie year. He finished third in the MVP voting in his first year out of Marshall.

During Kevin Garnett’s peak with the Timberwolves, Moss sometimes watched KG put on a show in Minnesota. When Garnett took his talents to Boston, the NFL star also attended a few of his games.

The two Minnesota stars teamed up for an iconic photo in 2000 that was recreated in October by Anthony Edwards and Justin Jefferson.

The Minnesota connection is alive in Garnett and Moss. Both returned to their original teams late in their careers and are considered sporting legends in the state.
