2025 Nissan Murano Redesigned to Entice Modern Buyers

The Nissan Murano, the brand’s midsize utility slotting between the Rogue and Armada, has been redesigned for 2025, assembled with a new powertrain and more tech underneath a design that’s vastly different from the current model.

Stylistically, the new Murano leans into a design language akin to what we recently experienced in the new Kicks subcompact utility. Although different and now partially defined by LED daytime running lights, Nissan’s V-Motion grille is still visible, giving the leading edge a little bit of contrast. It’s an overall clean design, tucking the exhaust tips away, for example, for smooth simplicity.

Those tailpipes are connected to a proper engine, as the Murano is still internal-combustion powered. A turbocharged 2.0-liter now supplies all the grunt, rated at 241 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It’s smaller than the outgoing 3.5-liter V6, and does generate 19 horsepower less, but it makes up for it with 20 lb-ft more. A nine-speed automatic is the only transmission offered, be it configured for standard front- or available all-wheel drive. Frequency sensitive dampers are said to improve ride quality, backed up by electric power steering.

Like its outward appearance, the Murano’s recontoured cabin sports a fresh look and a number of new features. Keeping with the times, there’s been a particular emphasis put on digital real estate with a pair of 12.3-inch displays mounted as standard and joined by a capacitive-touch panel for HVAC controls, similar to that found in the all-electric Ariya. The gear shifter has been replaced by buttons, freeing up space on the center console for the included wireless device charger.

A thinner front seat design gives second-row passengers a little extra leg room, and the rear row, for the first time, incorporates Nissan’s Zero Gravity seats. They are said to be more supportive and more comfortable, and if it’s like those we recently experienced in the new Kicks, we can agree with that. Under-seat reinforcement and other components bolster safety in the second row. As for the driver, Nissan Safety Shield 360, the brand’s onboard suite of assistance and convenience features, is thrown in for good measure, though additional features are available in higher grades.

The 2025 Nissan Murano is expected to reach dealers early next year. Pricing is yet to be confirmed.
