Frankie Muniz will still drive full-time in NASCAR despite Malcolm in the Middle comeback

Frankie Muniz will still compete full-time in the NASCAR Truck Series in 2025 despite returning to his iconic role as the lead actor in Malcolm in the Middle. The 39-year-old had been chasing his dream of becoming a NASCAR driver for several years and finally achieved full-time status ahead of the new campaign, where he will drive in the No. 33 for Reaume Brothers Racing.

Disney's decision to bring back the iconic show with its original characters for a sequel series after an 18-year hiatus will not affect Muniz's participation in NASCAR next year. Re-joining Muniz in the Malcolm in the Middle reboot are Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek, as the show focuses on a grown-up Malcolm with a daughter.

The series will be four episodes long as the show looks to recapture its glory of old following seven successful seasons before ending in 2006 with seven Emmy Awards, including one for best writing for a comedy series. "I have been waiting for this moment for 18 years. Let's find out where Malcolm and his family are now," Muniz said.

"With Linwood Boomer and the creative team at the helm, these new episodes will have all the laughs, pranks, and mayhem fans loved - along with a few surprises that remind us why this show is so timeless," said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television.

Muniz has big ambitions for NASCAR and is confident he can make a name for himself in the sport. Last month, his season ended with a heavy crash in the Truck Series Championship 4 race in Phoenix, Arizona, but he remains optimistic and excited.

"Obviously, like I didn't have many races, I got out of the car this year where I could go, 'Wow. Well, that was a great race, that was a great win,'" he said after the race.

"We had some issues. I just wanted to prove that I could I can battle with these guys, you know what I mean? And I think I can."

The 2025 Truck Series is scheduled to start on Feb. 14 at Daytona International Speedway. The series will then head to Atlanta the following week to close out the first month of racing.
