What happened to Maxx Crosby? Update on Raiders DE

On Saturday, Maxx Crosby posted an emotional message on Instagram, confirming that he needs to undergo season-ending surgery on his ankle.

"Some people will say that I should just take my time and just relax and get ready for next year, I will never be that person," he captioned his Instagram post. "I have a team around me that made it possible for me to come back and still disrupt even though I truly wasn't fully healthy all year.

"I will stand in the fire no matter what the circumstance because this game is my life. If I got a heartbeat, I expect to play for the fans that spend their hard earned money to watch me perform and wear my jersey every Sunday. I do it because it means everything to me and I will never change my approach to this game."

As per reports, Crosby will meet with doctors on Monday to undergo the arthroscopic surgery. There's also a possibility that he could require a second surgery to know the extent of the damage to his ankle.

Crosby initially injured his ankle in Las Vegas' Week 2 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens before re-aggravating the issue in the Raiders' Week 14 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Since the Raiders (2-11) are out of the playoff race, Crosby will miss the remaining regular-season games against the Atlanta Falcons (Week 15), Jacksonville Jaguars (Week 16), New Orleans Saints (Week 17) and the Los Angeles Chargers (Week 18).

Crosby finishes the 2024 season with 45 tackles, 7.5 sacks and five passes defended across 12 games.
