Starting in 2025: Peruvian National Team to Compete in Women's Qualifiers for 2027 World Cup | RPP News
A new competition arrives on the continent starting next year. CONMEBOL announced on Thursday the approval of the creation of the South American Women's Qualifiers, which will now provide the spots for qualification to the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Teams from South America, including the Peruvian National Team, have been fighting for their spots to reach the Women's World Cups during the Women's Copa América; however, CONMEBOL is introducing a new qualifying tournament that resembles the men's qualification format.
"This new tournament marks a significant achievement for the development and promotion of women's football in South America, providing more opportunities for national teams by ensuring a higher number of matches within a more extensive competitive framework," detailed the governing body of football on the continent.

Participating will be the teams belonging to CONMEBOL, with the exception of Brazil, which is already qualified as the host of the 2027 World Cup.
Thus, the Women's Qualifiers will feature 9 teams, with the top two teams directly qualifying for the World Cup. Additionally, the teams finishing in third and fourth places will enter a playoff for intercontinental qualification.
The tournament format will see all teams play against each other in a single matchday. This means that each participating team will play 8 matches, 4 home and 4 away. Each round of the Qualifiers will consist of four matches, with one team resting each matchday.
The Women's Copa América 2025 will take place from July 12 to August 2 next year, with Ecuador as the host. Following this competition, the Qualifiers will be played during the FIFA Women's international dates of this year.

In this way, the Peruvian National Team will embark on a new journey to try and secure their first qualification for the FIFA Women's World Cup.
