Top athletes are worried the lack of sponsorships and broadcast deals could undermine the future of mixed doubles curling.
On the day Laura Walker spoke with the Toronto Star it was a statutory holiday in Alberta and that, she said, meant “I kind of have the day off.”
She’s an elite curler trying to get to the 2026 Olympics in mixed doubles, a mortgage broker and a mother of two young kids, with a husband who is a member of Brad Gushue’s foursome, which has Olympic ambitions of its own, and he travels even more than she does.
