WITH POSTS ON HIS SOCIAL MEDIA, Messi celebrated the 2nd anniversary of the Qatar World Cup. Two years ago, the Argentine superstar took to his Instagram account to share a heartfelt message.

This December 18 marks two years since the final of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, where the Argentina National Team triumphed over France in a penalty shootout after a thrilling 3-3 draw in regulation and extra time. On the occasion of this second anniversary, which united over 45 million compatriots, captain Lionel Messi, a key figure of that team, commemorated the memorable date with a post on his social media accounts.

Accompanied by two photos of him enjoying mate with the World Cup trophy by his side, the number 10 wrote: "I love December and the Christmas season. Two years ago, this could have been the last, bitter month of the year, but it turned out to be the most beautiful of my sports career. And now, every December, this memory comes to mind... Happy second anniversary to everyone!"

In the first photo, Messi is seen sipping mate alongside a replica of the championship trophy and a thermos adorned with several nods to the "Scaloneta" including stickers representing the four titles he secured with the Albiceleste under Lionel Scaloni’s leadership: two Copa América titles (2021 and 2024), the Finalissima against Italy, and the Qatar World Cup.

The thermos also features a patch celebrating these achievements. The second image captures him in a peaceful moment, preparing a mate and savoring the time. Without a doubt, this gesture reflects the humility that characterizes the global football star.

The memory of December 18, 2022, remains indelible. That day, Lusail Stadium witnessed one of the most thrilling finals in World Cup history. Argentina faced off against France in a match etched in collective memory: a vibrant 3-3 draw during regular and extra time, followed by a penalty shootout where the Albiceleste emerged victorious 4-2.
