Calgary police say Hawkin Gerald Thomas was taken by his mom Tamara Jean Vanderjagt around 2:30 p.m. during a supervised visit in the 1900 block of 9 Ave. S.E.
Police have been searching the city but have not been able to locate Hawkin or his mother. Police are concerned for the child’s safety.
Hawkin is described as a white male with blonde hair, wearing a red sweater, green boots, and dark camouflage sweatpants.
His mom, Tamara, is described as a 40-year-old white female with bright, short red hair. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie and red pants, driving a brown 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander with license plate NLY-991. It was last seen travelling westbound 9 Avenue S.E., going past Blackfoot Trail.
Amber Alerts are issued to the public when a child or adult, with a proven mental or physical disability, is abducted and at risk of harm, according to Calgary police. Strict criteria must be met for an Amber Alert to be issued.
“We’re looking for any types of tips from the public to help us locate that vehicle to help find the child,” a CPS spokesperson told Postmedia.
Police advise the public to not approach the suspect.
