New Zealand star Ajaz Patel taken all 10 of India's wickets in their first innings of the second Test at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The 33-year-old finished with the incredible figures of 10-119 off 47.5 overs as India were bowled out for 325 in their first dig on the second day.

Patel became only the third player to achieve the extraordinary feat, joining bowling legends Anil Kumble and Jim Laker.

The left-arm spinner was even on a hat-trick after nabbing Wriddhiman Saha and Ravichandran Ashwin in successive deliveries, but then failing to nab Axar Patel with the next ball.

After getting four Indian wickets on day one, Patel got the next six on the second day, as Mayank Agarwell provided the only resistance for the home side with a score of 150.

Three players were dismissed by Patel for a duck, including Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ashwin.

In response to India's opening innings of 325, New Zealand were struggling on 4-28 in the second session on day two - with the first Test between the two teams drawn last week.

English bowler Laker was the first player to achieve 10 wickets in an innings against Australia at Old Trafford in 1956.

India's Kumble then also reached the mark in a Test versus Pakistan in New Delhi in 1999.
