Toronto to host Colors of Cancer 5K in memory of two mothers
JEFFERSON COUNTY, OH — Toronto is hosting the Louann Burchfield/Kathy Hannan Hale Colors of Cancer Memorial 5K on Saturday, August 10th. Registration starts at 8 AM, and the race begins at 9 AM. This 5K event honors two mothers who both battled cancer. Their daughters initiated a Sunshine Charity, through which they have donated over $3,000 to two families with loved ones battling cancer and $1,000 to the Tony Taramana Cancer Center.
"We came to understand the impact that cancer has on patients and families, so we had the idea to help and give back after going through that ourselves," said 5K organizer Alicia Myslinsky.
The race begins at 9 AM in front of Tri B's Coffee Shop in Toronto, and this event is part of the Gem City Quadfecta Challenge. Participants in Toronto's four races will receive a Quadfecta Challenge coin.
